🔒

2.1 Protect your privacy

🎯 Goal: know what to never type into Claude
  • Private information is anything that can identify you or let a stranger find or trick you.
  • Treat a chat with AI like talking in a public place. Share the question, not your secrets.
  • Use placeholders like [Name] or [My City] and fill them in only on your own paper.
  • If you are unsure, stop and ask a grown-up before typing.

🚦 The Privacy Traffic Light

🔴 NEVER share

  • Full name + home address
  • Phone number, email
  • Passwords and OTPs
  • Photos of ID cards
  • Bank or card details

🟡 Ask a grown-up first

  • Your photo
  • Your school name
  • Your city or area
  • Family details
  • Anything you feel unsure about

🟢 Usually safe

  • Your study question
  • The topic and class level
  • Hobbies like cricket
  • Your own essay with names removed

🌍 Real-life examples

📝 Class project introNeed help with a self-introduction? Ask for a template with [Name] and [City] blanks, then fill them in yourself.
🎮 “Verify your account” trickA message asks for your OTP or password. No real helper ever needs it. Stop and tell an adult.
🚀 Try it yourself
Help me write a short introduction for my Class [your class] project. Use blanks like [My Name] and [My City]. I will fill them in myself on paper.
❌ Weak prompt“I am Rohan Sharma, I live at Flat 4, Green Park Society, and my number is…”
Too much personal information.
✅ Good prompt“Write a friendly self-introduction for a Class 7 student who loves cricket. Leave blanks for my name and city.”
Useful and private.
🎉 Fun fact: A password made of 4 random words, like “mango-train-cloud-tiger”, is usually harder to guess than a short one full of symbols. Never type it into a chatbot though!

📝 Quick quiz

1. Which one should you NEVER type into Claude?
A) Your homework question   B) Your password   C) A topic like “volcanoes”

✅ B. Passwords and OTPs stay secret, always.

2. What is a placeholder?

✅ A blank like [My Name] that you fill in yourself, away from the chat.

3. A chat asks for your home address. What do you do?

✅ Don’t answer. Close it and tell a parent or teacher.

🔍

2.2 Check the facts

🎯 Goal: verify answers before you trust them
  • Claude can sometimes give a wrong answer in a very confident voice. People call this a hallucination.
  • Be extra careful with dates, numbers, names, quotes and recent events.
  • Check important facts in your textbook, with a teacher, or on a trusted website.
  • You can ask: “How sure are you? How can I check this?”

🌍 Real-life examples

🏛️ History dateClaude says a battle happened in a certain year. Compare it with your history textbook before writing it.
🔢 Science numberYou get a distance or a speed. Check the number in your science book and note the unit.
🚀 Try it yourself
Tell me 3 facts about the Moon for a Class [your class] student. For each fact, tell me how I can check it, and tell me if you are unsure about anything.
❌ Weak habitBelieve the answer because it sounds confident.
Confident does not mean correct.
✅ Good habitAsk “How can I check this?” and verify in a textbook or trusted source.
Now you are a fact detective.
🎉 Fun fact: Journalists often confirm important facts in at least two trusted sources. Try the same “two-source rule” for your projects!

📝 Quick quiz

1. What is a hallucination in AI?

✅ When AI gives a wrong or made-up answer in a confident way.

2. Which things need extra checking?
A) Dates and numbers   B) Jokes   C) Emojis

✅ A. Dates, numbers, names and quotes can be wrong.

3. Write one question you can ask Claude to help you verify an answer.

✅ “How sure are you?” or “How can I check this in my textbook?”

🦉

2.3 Learn honestly

🎯 Goal: use Claude to learn, not to copy
  • Homework exists so your brain gets stronger, just like exercise builds muscles.
  • Copying an AI answer is like someone else doing your push-ups. You gain nothing.
  • Use Claude as a coach: ask for hints, tips and practice, then do the work yourself.
  • Follow your school’s AI rules and be honest when you used AI as a helper.

⚖️ Copy-cat or Smart learner?

🐑 Copy-cat

  • ❌ Pastes the full answer
  • ❌ Cannot explain it later
  • ❌ Forgets it by tomorrow
  • ❌ Might break school rules

🦉 Smart learner

  • ✅ Tries first
  • ✅ Asks for hints and tips
  • ✅ Explains in own words
  • ✅ Follows school rules

🪜 The Learning Ladder

✏️1. Try firstgive it your best
➜
💡2. Ask for a hintnot the full answer
➜
🛠️3. Fix it yourselfuse the tips
➜
🗣️4. Say it your wayteach someone at home

🌍 Real-life examples

➗ Maths sumStuck on a sum? Ask: “Give me only the first step as a hint.” Then try the rest alone.
✍️ Essay writingWrite your own paragraph first. Then ask Claude for 3 tips to improve it, and make the changes yourself.
🚀 Try it yourself
Here is my paragraph about the water cycle: [paste your own paragraph]. Do not rewrite it. Give me 3 tips to improve it and I will fix it myself.
❌ Weak prompt“Write my essay on pollution.”
You learn nothing and the essay is not yours.
✅ Good prompt“Here is my pollution essay. Do not rewrite it. Tell me 3 things to improve.”
You stay the author.
🏆 Mini challenge: Take any answer Claude gave you and explain it to a family member without looking. If you can, you have truly learned it!

📝 Quick quiz

1. What should you do BEFORE asking Claude for help?

✅ Try the work yourself first.

2. A good way to ask for help on a maths sum is…
A) “Solve it fully”   B) “Give me only the first hint”   C) “Do all my homework”

✅ B. Hints keep you thinking.

3. Why is copying an AI answer a problem?

✅ You do not learn it, you may break school rules, and the answer may be wrong.

🧭

2.4 Smart habits

🎯 Goal: build healthy AI habits and know who else can help
  • Have a goal before you open Claude, such as “revise fractions for 15 minutes”.
  • Take breaks. Stretch, drink water, play outside. Your brain learns better when rested.
  • Claude is one helper, not the only helper. Teachers, parents, friends and books matter too.
  • If something feels odd or upsetting, close the chat and tell a trusted adult.

Tired brain, little learning.
